Barak: Iran will use nukes to intimidate, not to strike

WASHINGTON — Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Friday said that a nuclear-armed Iran would be unlikely to strike Israel but would use its atomic arsenal to intimidate adversaries across the Middle East.
Barak said the Iranians have what he called a sophisticated decision-making process and fully understand that their own country would face retaliation if they used a nuclear weapon against Israel.
The defense minister was in Washington for a series of meetings with top Obama administration officials amid an intensified US effort to exert pressure on Iran after a year of failed efforts to engage Teheran in nuclear negotiations.
