Ben-Eliezer: Grapel arrest shows Egyptian inexperience

Former defense minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer (Labor) said he believes the arrest of alleged Mossad spy Ilan Grapel showed the inexperience of the Egyptian security forces, and was intended to prove to Egyptian citizens that the government still insists on national security, Israel Radio reported.
Ben-Eliezer said he hoped that the arrest did not signal a new trend in Israeli-Egyptian relations as Egypt attempts to garner support from the more Islamic elements of the country, facilitating the Hamas-Fatah reconciliation deal and opening the Rafah border.
