Biden to address AIPAC conference

WASHINGTON -- US Vice President Joe Biden will address the American Israel Public Affairs Committee's annual conference opening this weekend, according to AIPAC officials.
Biden will be the highest-ranking representative of the government to participate in the three-day convention, but several other legislative leaders are also slated to address the gathering, including House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who is still working on forming a governing coalition and will be receiving US President Barack Obama in Israel later in the month, will not be in attendance. But he will address the conference by satellite link.
In his place, Defense Minister Ehud Barak will be coming to Washington to represent the Israeli government. He will speak to an estimated 13,000 attendees -- about the same as last year -- at what is billed as the largest annual pro-Israel gathering held in the United States.
