British foreign minister sends Pesach greetings

British Foreign Secretary William Hague has sent a greeting to the Jewish community in the UK and around the world as celebrations for the festival of Pessah begin.
“I am delighted to send my best wishes to the Jewish community in Britain and around the world as celebrations for the festival of Pessah begin,” the foreign secretary said on Monday. “This is a joyous time for Jews around the world as they come together to celebrate liberty and freedom.
Alluding to recent terror attacks on Israeli civilians, Hague said that while Pessah represents the return to the land of Israel for the Jewish people, the search for peace, and a secure Israel, goes on. “Passover marks the Children of Israel’s release from slavery and the start of their journey to the Promised Land. The sad events of the last few weeks, including the rocket attacks from Gaza and the bomb in Jerusalem, have shown that the search for peace and for freedom from fear is not yet over,” he said.
“So I join with Jews the world over in hoping that the coming year will finally bring about lasting peace and that it will ensure that Israel is finally truly secure, and at peace. I wish you and your family a Hag Hirut Sameach,” he added.
