Cabinet approves amendment to Draft Courts Law

The cabinet on Sunday approved an amendment to the Draft Courts Law which holds that binding arbitration is to be used in civil claims submitted to magistrates courts, an official statement said.
The goal of the proposal is "to assist in shortening the duration of lengthy judicial processes that harm citizens and the image of the court system," the statement said.
According to the statement, the proposal suggests that magistrates courts presidents and their deputies will be authorized to order that a civil claim be transferred to an arbitrator. The arbitration verdict will need court approval and may be appealed.
