Cabinet passes emergency water plan to meet demand

The cabinet on Sunday approved an emergency plan to operate desalinization plants around the clock in light of the decreasing supply of water in the country.
The move was made against the backdrop of what the Government Press Office called a "continual decline in the supply of natural water in Israel," stemming from a lack of rainwater and normal use of water in reservoirs.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, addressing the cabinet, said that the state's "mission is to deal with the crisis in the water economy and ensure the orderly supply of water to all Israelis." He added that due to the issue's critical nature, the government will "advance the issue with all due seriousness."
