Canada imposes additional sanctions on Belarusian officials - statement

Canada said on Thursday that it had imposed sanctions on an additional 31 officials in Belarus because of human rights violations by President Alexander Lukashenko and his government, according to a foreign ministry statement.
Canada and the UK together imposed a first round of sanctions last month. Canada said these sanctions were coordinated with the United States and the European Union.
