Channel 10 freezes 150 planned layoffs

Channel 10's workers committee announced on Wednesday froze its board of directors Tuesday night decision to fire 150 employees.
The firings were part of a program of cutbacks and budget adjustments the management had agreed on.
Sources inform 'Globes' that, on Sunday evening, Channel 10 vice chairman Avi Balashnikov sent an e-mail to CEO Yoav Haldman, asking him to draw up a list of 150 employees, which would be presented to yesterday's board meeting.
Despite Histadrut chairman Ofer Eini's declaration at Channel 10's news desk yesterday that he would not let the television station to be closed, and told employees not to appear before layoff hearings, Channel 10's board decided on the layoffs that evening.
