Cigarette prices set to rise by at least NIS 2

The price of most cigarettes will rise by NIS 2 on Wednesday, with higher-end brands rising by even more.
In addition, a 10 percent tax will be levied from importers and stockers of cigarettes.
Following the measures, no brand of cigarettes will cost less than NIS 10 per pack.
The Finance Ministry has also decided to limit the number of cigarette cartons Israeli travelers are allowed to purchase in duty-free shops to one, instead of two.
The move is aimed at increasing the state’s revenue and reducing the number of smokers.
