Court sentences Yehiye Turk to 15 years in prison

The Tel Aviv District Court sentenced Yehiye Turk to 15 years in prison for his involvement in the 1999 murder of three-year-old Aviv Iluz and the attempted murder of his father in a car bombing.  The sentence was given a month after the Supreme Court ordered the State Attorney’s Office to honor a plea bargain it signed with Turk, which it had asked to have canceled.
Turk who has been in custody for nine years, may go free a year from now, if the parole board reduces a third of his sentence for good behavior. Turk denied he had taken part in the crimes, despite confessing to them earlier and said he only signed the bargain so that his trial would be over.
