The IDF launched an investigation Monday into the death of a deputy company commander in the elite Maglan Unit.
The officer, 22, collapsed after exiting his car in the Tel Nof Air Force Base near Rehovot.
Medics alerted to the scene tried resuscitating the officer and he was evacuated to the Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot where doctors pronounced his death.
Soldiers in the unit were said to be in shock and the IDF said that the officer was not known to have any prior medical conditions.
