Discount Bank employee suspected of stealing NIS 200,000

An alleged NIS 200,000 embezzlement was uncovered at an Israel Discount Bank branch in Eilat. The bank employee suspected of the embezzlement has been suspended. The bank was investigating the case and whether there are more cases, and filed a complaint with the police.

The branch employee allegedly withdrew the money from a customer's account. It was only discovered when the customer complained and the bank's internal auditor took immediate action. The audit found the employee allegedly withdrew the money in small amounts over a period of time between the withdrawals.

Discount Bank apologized to the customer and credited his account in the amount of the money embezzled, plus interest and linkage.
