Driver detained in Egypt crash killing US tourists

CAIRO  — Egyptian authorities ordered the detention of the truck driver involved in a crash with a tour bus that killed eight Americans and injured 21 others.
The accident took place on Sunday when a tour bus slammed into a truck parked on the side of a narrow desert road in the early hours of the morning as it was on its way to the ancient temples of Abu Simbel in southern Egypt.
Aswan attorney general, Bahaa el-Wakeel, ordered the four-day-detention of the truck driver pending further investigation. The driver of the tour bus is currently in intensive care.
