Public Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs Minister Yuli Edelstein called on Russia and the European Union to impose heavy sanctions against Iran on Thursday.
Speaking at a conference on Israeli business ties with Russia and the EU, Edelstein said, "Russia and the European Union today have the opportunity to promise a more secure future for Israel and the entire region, and that is the imposition of uncompromising sanctions on Iran."
"We expect the EU to demonstrate leadership in every aspect of the Iran problem," the minister continued.
Invoking the Holocaust, Edelstein continued: "The Jewish nation already paid a heavy price in the past. We can only dream of what would have happen if the international community had done what was necessary in 1933."
