Europeans condemn 'disturbing' settler violence

Four European countries condemned "disturbing" violence by Israeli settlers following a United Nations Security Council meeting Tuesday that saw widespread condemnation of new Israeli building beyond the Green Line.
"We condemn the disturbing escalation of violence by settlers, including the burning of the Nebi Akasha mosque in west Jerusalem and the Burqa mosque in the West Bank," British UN Ambassador Mark Lyall Grant said, reading from a statement on behalf of four European countries, according to AFP.
"It is clear that these deliberately provocative attacks on places of worship were designed to aggravate tensions," Grant continued.
However, while welcoming promises by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to stop the violence, the European countries called on Jerusalem "to fulfill its commitment to bring the perpetrators to justice and to put an end to impunity," according to the report.
