Ex-Brotherhood leader says Cairo won't resemble Tehran

If the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party wins parliamentary elections in Egypt, Cairo will neither resemble Ankara nor Tehran, a former Muslim Brotherhood leader said Sunday according to Army Radio.
Mohamed Mahdi Aakif said that Islamic jurisprudence does not demand a religious government, adding that there is a model for a "nation of the people," referring to the Islamic umma, or community, according the report.
He also said that the Brotherhood would not rule out forming a governing coalition with the country's liberal groups.
