Fatah, Hamas spar over Abbas comments on West Bank control

Fatah spokesman Ahmad Assaf on Monday lashed out at Hamas's deputy leader for saying that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas should offer Hamas control of the West Bank should he decide to dismantle the PA, Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported.
Moussa Abu Marzouk's comment was an apparent response to a Haaretz interview in which Abbas addressed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, saying "Sit in the chair here instead of me, take the keys, and you will be responsible for the Palestinian Authority."
Marzouk wrote on his Facebook page, "why would he pass the keys to Israel?"
"Does Abu Marzouq want to tell Israel that he accepts what Abbas refuses and what Fatah and the PLO refuse?" Ma'an quoted Assaf as saying. "And that he’s ready to be a replacement of the legitimate leadership which is being surrounded politically and financially because of its national positions."
