The Foreign Ministry shot back at Turkish accusations that
Israeli and Cypriot energy exploration in the Mediterranean was illegal on Wednesday.
"Israel strictly abides by international law," a ministry spokesperson told
The Jerusalem Post. "If Turkey wants to lay claim to Israeli resources then it should do so through the UN and not through the media."
Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said on Wednesday that agreement should be reached with all relevant parties - including Israel and Cyprus - before gas exploration continues. He emphasized that resources in the area should be equally shared.
