Formal handing over of power to France's Macron to take place May 14

Outgoing French Socialist President Francois Hollande confirmed Monday that the formal handing over of power to Emmanuel Macron will take place on May 14.
Macron was elected on Sunday with a business-friendly vision of European integration. He prevailed over far-right contender Marine Le Pen with 66 per cent of the vote to become France's youngest leader since Napoleon.
His election was thought to be seen as a huge relief to European allies who had feared another populist upheaval to follow Britain's vote to quit the EU and Donald Trump's election as US president. Staff contributed to this report.
