Frances accuses China in spying scandal at Renault

PARIS — A French legislator said there are indications of Chinese involvement in a suspected case of industrial espionage at carmaker Renault.
Bernard Carayon, a member of parliament and expert on industrial espionage, said on French radio Friday that there are "several usually reliable sources" indicating that a Chinese buyer sought to obtain secrets from three Renault executives who were suspended by the car maker this week.
Carayon said the claim was backed by "proven, diverse and reliable" sources but did not elaborate.
Renault said late Thursday that it plans to take legal action in the matter that it described as serious acts by executives with extremely strategic positions in the company.
