Gaddafi forces say in control of west Libyan town

CAIRO - Al Arabiya television reported on Monday that the western Libyan city Misrata was now controlled by forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi.
The channel was quoting a spokesman for Gaddafi's forces. There were no further details. Due to a lack of communications, the report could not immediately be checked.
Residents had earlier said Gaddafi's forces fired on a crowd of unarmed people in the rebel-held city of Misrata and were using civilians as human shields against air strikes.
