Haiti's Senate approves Garry Conille as premier

PORT-AU-PRINCE - Haiti's Senate on Tuesday approved Garry Conille as prime minister, endorsing President Michel Martelly's third nominee for the post in a move many hope will boost reconstruction efforts in the earthquake-ravaged nation.
The Senate confirmation of Conille, 45, a medical doctor and UN development expert, followed approval from Haiti's lower house of parliament last month.
It was Martelly's third attempt to install a new head of government after his first two nominees were rejected by lawmakers in the poor Caribbean state, which was hit by a massive earthquake last year.
