Issam Makhoul alleges Shin Bet warned Amir would be framed

The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) threatened to frame Amir Makhoul, according to allegations from the Arab-Israeli spy suspect's brother.

Issam Makhoul told Israel Radio that his brother was called in for interrogation during Operation Cast Lead, questioned on his political and protest activities. He was then told that while his actions were still within the limits of legality, if he persisted the authorities would frame him and make him disappear, according to the report.

The suspect's brother stressed that the family had made these threats public at that time, and not only now in response to accusations.
