Jerusalem workers union files lawsuit over lost blizzard pay

Roughly three months after one of the worst winter storms in decades largely incapacitated Jerusalem, the city’s Worker’s Union has filed a complaint at Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court demanding payment for lost compensation resulting from the storm.
The public service employees contended in their law suit that they should have been paid for missed work, just as monthly salaried workers were.
Apart from emergency services, the capital was ostensibly shut down for nearly one week following the storm, resulting in hundreds of millions of shekels in lost revenue.
Deeming the blizzard a “mini-tsunami,” Mayor Nir Barkat has repeatedly asked the government to allocate financial aid to cover monetary losses. It is unclear how much money the union employees are seeking.
