Jews, Palestinians clash in West Bank

A confrontation between Palestinians and Jewish settlers in the West Bank on Friday near the Eilon Moreh settlement ended only when security forces arrived on the scene and fired shots into the air.
Settlers said Palestinians from the village of Azmut assaulted two local residents. The settlers in turn requested assistance from local security forces, who arrived shortly thereafter and fired into the air. The Palestinians however said that the shots were fired without provocation.
According to settler sources, Palestinians and leftwing activists arrived in the area to pick olives without coordinating the harvest with the IDF’s civil administration.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
On Friday, Palestinians and settlers blamed one another for a fire that spread through an olive grove near Havat Gilad. Israeli and Palestinian firefighters worked together to douse the flames.
