Knesset Finance C'tee: Elections budget NIS 400 million

As rumors swirl that general elections may be held as early as this summer, Knesset Finance Committee chair MK Moshe Gafni (United Torah Judaism) announced that the elections budget stands at NIS 400 million.
Gafni declined to comment on whether he supported advancing the general elections, after some members of the coalition including Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman threatened that a failure to draft an alternative Tal Law that would require enlistment or national service for all of Israel's citizens could endanger the coalition.
Dissolving the government and holding elections will likely delay a number of reforms slated for this summer session, Gafni said, adding that the Finance Committee will continue to operate even if early elections are held due to the "essential work of the committee for the state economy."
