Knesset votes at first reading to deduct PA money due to support for terrorism

The Knesset plenum approved Wednesday a legislative proposal to deduct money given to the Palestinian Authority, due to its support for terrorism, at its initial reading.
The governing coalition and a number of opposition members supported the proposal. 48 Knesset members approved and 13 voted against the law.
Speaking from the podium, Joseph Jabarin of the Joint List Party argued against the legislation, stating that "this is a populist law that will impose collective punishment on a large number of people."
The vote comes one day after US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson stated that the Palestinian Authority intends to stop payments to terrorists in Israeli jails. The claim has been refuted by both Israeli and Palestinian officials.
