Libya scraps taxes to mark "victory" over rebels

TRIPOLI - Libya's government has orderedthe abolition of import tariffs on staple goods and taxes onconsumption and production, state television reported on Sunday.

It said the government took the decision "on the occasion ofthe great Libyan victories over the terrorist gangs".

Forces loyal to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi have beenfighting rebels who control large areas of the country.
