Livni: Bush knew settlement blocs must be taken into account

Former American President George W. Bush realized that the reality created in the West Bank, i.e. settlement blocs, must be taken into account, opposition leader Tzipi Livni said on Sunday. Speaking on Israel Radio, Livni added that the US had never supported the settlements, therefore there is no novelty in the current administration's demand for a total freeze. However, she concluded, an Israeli government that would accept the two-state principle would be able to retain Israeli sovereignty over settlement blocs in negotiations with Palestinians.
