Livni: I expect UK arrest warrant situation to end ASAP

In a meeting with British Shadow Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, opposition leader Tzipi Livni said, "The British legal system continues to be negatively exploited by radical political forces that have the authority to issue arrest warrants [for Israeli officials]. This situation taints Israeli-British relations and it must stop for the good of the ties between the two countries. I expect the Labour Party to support every proposal that ends this absurd situation as soon as possible."
In December 2009, a British judge accepted a petition by a pro-Palestinian group that accused Livni of complicity in alleged war crimes by Israel during the Second Lebanon War and issued a warrant for her arrest.Livni, who was Israel’s foreign minister during the war with Hizbullah in 2006, canceled her trip to the UK and hasn’t visited since.
