Mandeblit does not recuse himself from decisions related to PM

The Justice Ministry on Tuesday distributed a document signed by newly appointed Attorney-General Avichai Mandelblit describing where he would recuse himself from deciding issues which presented a conflict of interest.
Despite some calls that as outgoing cabinet secretary he should recuse himself from making decisions related to cases against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sarah, two of which are potentially pending, Mandelblit did not commit in advance to avoiding these cases.
His predecessor, Yehuda Weinstein had recused himself from decisions relating to former prime minister Ehud Olmert due to having previously represented him.
The new attorney-general instead disclosed all of his potential conflicts from past roles and committed to recusing himself should an issue arise, with the only specific issue he committed to avoiding in advance being issues related to Lod, since his brother-in-law is deputy mayor there.
