Ministry warns about cannabinoids

The Health Ministry warned on Sunday against the use of “very dangerous, illegal drugs” sold in kiosks under the names Nice Guy, Mastulon, and Mabsuton.
Use of these illicit synthetic cannabinoids may result in death, the ministry said. They have been linked to the deaths of two persons so far and the hospitalization of a number of young people in the northern and central regions of the country.
In the last few weeks, the ministry’s enforcement and supervision branch learned that some illicit synthetic cannabinoids have been mixed by their distributors with strong psychiatric medications, including Doxepin and Venlafaxine. The combination with the synthetic cannabinoids greatly increases the danger of the chemicals compared to their impact when taken separately, the ministry said.
The ministry and the Israel Police are continuing their efforts to find and withhold kiosk drugs and to prosecute distributors, the ministry said.
