Moaz trial continues with forensics expert testimony

The trial in the double murder of Nurit and Noah Maoz continued on Wednesday in the Jerusalem District Court with the testimony of Professor Yehuda Hiss, the head of the  L. Greenberg National Institute for Forensic Medicine, also known as the Abu Kabir Forensics Institute.
Hiss said that based on the defense marks on the victims’ bodies, he believed that more than one attacker had carried out the murder. Usually if there is just one attacker, victims will have defense marks on one forearm, but the Maozes had defense marks on both forearms, Hess testified.
The son Daniel Maoz, 28, who has a known gambling addiction, is accused of stabbing his parents to death on August 14 in the Ramot neighborhood of Jerusalem. Daniel Maoz’s blood was found at the scene, and his friends testified that he arrived at their apartment to gamble on the night of the murder in a disheveled state with blood spattered on his clothes. However, the defense has claimed that the murders were actually carried out by Daniel Maoz’s twin brother Nir, though Daniel has admitted to being present at the scene.
Daniel and Nir have identical DNA because they are identical twins. Nir Maoz, who was investigated three times by the police, has vehemently denied the charges.
