Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chair Shaul Mofaz on Monday claimed that the government is bringing Israel into conflict. He also warned that the next war will be much more difficult than the previous one, and estimated that Israel will return to the same types of negotiations with the Palestinians after such a conflict.
Mofaz commented Monday morning on Israel Radio that the government has adopted a strategy of survival and not governance. He criticized Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for not working to settle the crisis with Ankara, and not promoting a political platform.
Mofaz also estimated that the Palestinians understand that the likelihood of a permanent settlement is very low, and that the government should return to promoting an interim agreement in the West Bank. He also called to renew negotiations with Syria, adding that there is no need to declare in advance for a withdrawal from the Golan Heights.
