Palestinian man shot at demonstration in Nabi Saleh

A Palestinian man was shot at the weekly demonstration in the West Bank village of Nabi Saleh Friday afternoon, sustaining injuries to his hand and torso. The bullet passed through the activist's hand before hitting him in his waist, a spokesperson for the Popular Struggle Coordination Committee (PSCC) said.
The man was currently undergoing surgery on his hand at a hospital in Ramallah, where PSCC spokeswoman Abir Kopty said the damage to his hand appeared serious.
The IDF Spokesman's Office confirmed that live fire was used at the demonstration, but said initial checks indicated soldiers who were surrounded by Palestinians and feared for their lives shot rounds into the air in an attempt to disperse the crowd.
Kopty refuted that claim, however, saying that several witnesses claimed the man was shot directly.
The IDF said the incident was currently being reviewed.
