Parents may be able to take sick days to care for sick kids

The Knesset Committee for Work, Health and Welfare will decide whether or not to pass a regulation on the laws regarding a parent taking paid sick leave to take care of his or her child. The regulation was submitted by Industry, Trade and Labor Minister of Binyamin Ben-Eliezer. The law allows the parent of a disabled person who requires personal assistance to utilize his own sick days to assist his child. The regulation would require parents to provide their employer with proof of their child's requiring personal care and the necessity for him or her to take off work.
