Pentagon: Ready to act on Libya orders but no specifics

WASHINGTON - The Pentagon said on Friday it was ready to carry out orders on Libya but said it would not discuss possible operations, as speculation mounts about Western military action against Muammar Gaddafi.
"We always maintain a constant state of high readiness to ensure we are fully capable and ready to support any orders which could come our way," the Pentagon said in response to a question about preparation for possible action against Libya.
"As a matter of policy, we don't discuss specifics of future operational or operational training activities, nor will we speculate on whether or not we may receive orders to conduct operations. We continue our primary mission of training and preparing to be able to respond to a tasking, if directed."
