Police finish investigation into David Vanunu bribe case

Police have finished their investigation into the Tax Authority’s National Investigations and Field Intelligence Branch, David Vanunu, police announced on Wednesday. Vanunu is expected to be indicted on Thursday in Tel Aviv District Court.
The police accuse Vanunu of accepting bribes, threatening blackmail, evading taxes, and other crimes. He reportedly told people he could make tax problems “disappear” for a fee. “[Vanunu] abused his high position in the tax authority to gain access to sensitive and classified information that he was able to access because of his job,” investigators added.
The investigation was carried out by the Tax Authority and police investigative units, including the Tel Aviv economic crime unit.
