Policeman stabbed 4.5 years ago dies of his injuries

A policeman who was stabbed by a car thief four-and-a-half years ago in Rehovot and who has been in a coma ever since died of his injuries on Wednesday. The officer, Shlomi Asulin, aged 31 and a father of two, has been hospitalized at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer, where his condition deteriorated in 2010.

He was stabbed in the neck with a screwdriver in Rehovot's industrial area while attempting to stop car thieves. The attacker, Abu Atza, a 24-year-old resident of Aruar in the Negev, was caught and convicted, and is serving a 20-year prison sentence.
