Power fails in Toronto in middle of summer heat wave

A blackout hit Toronto on Monday as the provincial power company Hydro One blamed the power failure on a fire at a transformer station in the city, Reuters reported.
Millions were temporarily left without electricity during a summer heat wave as the Queen of England and Duke of Edinburgh were touring the Canadian city on an ill-timed visit.
Power was restored to much of the city by the early evening, but over 48,000 customers were reportedly still without electricity.
