Prison wardens arrest mom trying to smuggle hash to her son

Prisons Service officers on Wednesday arrested a young mother attempting to smuggle hashish to her teenage son, currently serving a sentence for a violent crime at the Ofek Juvenile Prison.
The Prisons Service said Thursday that the woman had concealed the 12 grams of hash inside a pair of jeans her son was wearing. The woman was arrested and held for 24 hours before she was released. Police said she will soon face an indictment for the alleged smuggling.
Police said the woman and her son are reportedly part of a crime family centered in the North of Israel.
A spokesman for the Prisons Service said Thursday that the incident is part of the high number of ongoing attempts by convicts to smuggle drugs and other contraband into prison, saying that such items "are smuggled on their bodies, inside their bodies, on the bodies of children, in babies' diapers. There is no shortage of these cases."
