Rabbi's son, unknown assailant wounded in Golan gunfight

In an incident that has baffled police in the Golan Heights district, a gunfight broke out near the Nov junction between a 20-year-old man and a local rabbi and his son and son-in-law late Saturday night.
Police said that the 20-year-old man opened fire at the rabbi, after which the rabbi's son and son-in-law pulled out two pistols and returned fire, moderately wounding the man. The rabbi's son was seriously wounded in the shootout, and was rushed to Poriya Hospital in Tiberias for treatment. The rabbi was not hurt in the late night gun battle.
Police later arrested the rabbi, who heads a local beit midrash in the Golan Heights, as well as his son-in-law.
Northern District police are currently interviewing family members of those involved in an effort to determine what led to the incident.
