'Raed Salah Bill' vote postponed by Legislative C'tee

The Knesset Ministerial Legislative Committee postponed on Sunday the vote on a bill headed by MK Alex Miller (Israel Beiteinu) which would effectively prohibit anyone convicted of assisting a terrorist organization from entering educational institutions such as schools or universities except by special approval from the education minister. Any such convicted person who disregards the law would be subject to 18 months imprisonment.
The bill, called the "Raed Salah Law" after the leader of the Islamic Movement's northern branch who stirred up controversy last month when he spoke at Tel Aviv University, was postponed for sixty days to allow heads of universities to discuss the issue.
