Report: Ex-Israeli ambassador meets officials in Cairo

Former ambassador to Egypt Shalom Cohen made a visit to Cairo Saturday for a meeting at the Egyptian Foreign Ministry where he allegedly passed along an official apology from Israel over the deaths of three Egyptian security forces on Thursday, Egyptian newspaper Al Youm As Sabaa quoted "official sources" as saying.

According to the report, Cohen informed Egyptian officials that Jerusalem planned on carrying out a joint investigation into the deaths of an Egyptian army officer and two security force personnel.

Cohen did not comment on the visit, the report said.
