Report: German mediating Schalit deal coming to Cairo soon

The German diplomat responsible for mediating negotiations between Israel and Hamas for the release of kidnapped soldier Gilad Schalit will be coming to Cairo soon along with a special envoy sent by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, an Egyptian newspaper reported Wednesday according to Israel Radio.

According to the report Egypt has been in contact with both Germany and France lately in an attempt to accelerate the completion of a deal for Schalit's release.

The report added that senior Israeli officials might also be traveling to Cairo soon for discussions regarding Schalit.
