Report: Hamas official expects Rafah to reopen soon

A Hamas official in Gaza on Wednesday said he expects the Rafah border crossing between the coastal enclave and Egypt to reopen in the coming days, Bethlehem based-Ma'an news agency reported. The crossing was closed following a nearby terror attack that left 16 Egyptian soldiers dead earlier in the week.
Head of Hamas's Interior Ministry crossings director Mahir Abu Sabha told Ma'an that talks with Egypt about reopening the border were taking place and ongoing. Abu Sabha lamented the negative effects the closure has on medical patients, religious pilgrims and others.
