Reserve officer suspended over West Bank shooting

The Judea and Samaria Division commander has suspended a reserve officer with the rank of first lieutenant following an incident Saturday night west of Bethlehem in which soldiers fired at a Palestinian car, wounding four of its occupants.
The soldiers were carrying out routine check of vehicles when they were pelted with rocks and Molotov cocktails from a nearby road. The troops returned fire at a car that raised the suspicions of the commanding officer as well as toward the source of the attack.
One the vehicle’s occupants was moderately wounded and three were lightly hurt. From an initial inquiry it emerged that the soldiers did not open fire according to the correct procedure, and the officer was suspended Sunday until a further investigation.
The IDF expressed its remorse over the incident.
