'Rona Ramon Law' rejected, sent to Israel Press Council

The Ministerial Legislation Committee rejected a bill proposed by MK Shai Hermesh (Kadima) known as the "Rona Ramon Law," which would forbid the media from contacting or approaching bereaved families immediately after receiving news of a death in their family.
The committee decided that the Israel Press Council should handle the issue within three weeks.
Hermesh responded: "I don't believe that the Israel Press Council will be able to do what it failed to do for years in three weeks. In any case, this is a toothless organization that cannot enforce decisions and important media organizations are not members of it."
