Russell Crowe tweets against circumcision, then backpedals

Australian actor Russell Crowe used his Twitter page on Friday to enter the debate on circumcision, responding to a fan's question about whether or not to circumcise his son by saying he found the practice "barbaric and stupid."
Within hours, though, the tweet was removed and Crowe spent the rest of Friday posting a series of withdrawals and apologies, each with increasing effusiveness.
"My personal beliefs aside, I realize that some will interpret this debate as me mocking the rituals and traditions of others," Crowe tweeted. "I am very sorry."
