'Second Egyptian troop deployment in Sinai is approved'

A deployment of Egyptian troops in the Sinai Peninsula was approved by Israel on Wednesday following the fall of Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak last week, Reuters reported.
Citing an Israeli official, fewer than 1,000 additional troops were permitted into Sinai by Israel in the second such move this year, according to Reuters. Deploying any soldiers into the peninsula requires Israeli approval as prescribed in the 1979 peace treaty.
The move comes in the aftermath of a bombed gas pipeline near El Arish earlier this month.
